As a sophomore and an Elementary Education Major, I had to take what is called "The Block." It is three classes taught consecutively (2 days a week) by one teacher. These classes were Teaching Reading, Literature for Children, and Teaching Language Arts. I had Marcia for a professor. This combination of classes has been one of the most fun, exciting and interesting things I've had to do in my educational career. Marcia has a great passion for education and is ALWAYS available for extra help or just to talk. She is extremely educated in her field and willing to share all of her knowledge with anyone who desires it. Marcia is also my advisor here. Over the last three years she has been instrumental in my career and class choices and she's also been a great friend. When I go in for a meeting with her, the first thing she wants to know is how I'm doing personally--not how my classes are going. She cares about my mental and physical well being and even about how my family is doing. She far exceeds the requirements of her job and is one of the best people I have ever met. I highly recommend taking a class or two with her and if you're lucky enough to have her as an advisor, good for you!
