Mr. Carrol definitely knows how to pump you up. This class is an abbreviated version of HLTH101 with a physical element as well. That means the time is split between working out in the school gym and lectures, which is a great benefit to your body and keeps you from boredom. Mr. Carrol is upbeat and confident about the subject matter having a lifetime of experience in it and everything he says is worth hearing. There is a small lab fee and this goes towards a treadmill test to help determine how in-shape you are. You learn many different ways of working out, stretching, even a full day devoted to working out every part of the abdomen. The tests are multiple choice and fill in the blank that is well reviewed beforehand. The other aspect of the grade is how many workouts you put in and passing a test to keep your heart rate up for 25 minutes (easily done by the end of the course, I went in only being able to do 5 minutes). This class is far more helpful than health is to keeping yourself healthy and Mr. Carrol doesn't make it like high school gym class, he makes it about maximizing your personal fitness level and developing a routine to keep you healthy until death.
