Welcome back to High School...

Before I review this guy the circumstances of my class were we started out with a teacher who died, and Geisler took over after a month so various things can be forgiven as expected.

Unfortunately Geisler was straight out of high school teaching and this showed in everything he did. He seemed enthusiastic about the subject but taught out of the book and.. cringe.. assigned problems from it nightly also wanted us to pick favorite sentences and a bunch of other time consuming worthless crap. This was supposed to be a writing class but we spent most of it interpreting literature and the essays we did write had BARELY ANY comments on them when they were returned, we also had to turn in brainstorming and rough drafts peer edited.. He kept talking about how he had a life and that's why he took forever to return papers blah blah blah. The class was totally disorganized (probably due to him being rushed in) but he would assign homework and forget to collect it, and when it's answering stupid book questions that really hurts. At the end of the semester he had us "mark up" stories instead of writing a research paper marking what adjectives were and what adjectives modified which verbs and stuff like that. This wasn't bad but he gave us 10 page front/back fine print stories and expected this practically overnight. The exams were remembering authors to the book stories including student essays, book vocab from it, identifying if a sentence was a metaphor/simile/personification, and very easy true false. the final was marking up some 4 page front/back fine print story and about 100 questions from exams. If you already know how to write and just want to breeze through a class more simple than your high school english was then take this, however if you want to be treated like a college student and get something out of the class look elsewhere. His teaching may have changed with him having time to put a syllabus together and so forth but that was my experience.
