Dr. Schroer obviously wants the students to learn. Her lectures are very clear but also fast-paced. She provides a lot of extra material so you don't have to be compulsive about taking notes. Her exams are really hard, but they make you think and are good overall. I really liked this class and I know cell bio will stick with me.

Given the amount of material she had to teach, I thought she did an excellent job. True, her lectures were rapid however she and Dr. Wendland went out of the way to post supplementary materials on WebCT. I never read the text but if you missed something in the lectures, then the same material could have been found in the text. Her exams were challenging b/c they required you to have a much more in depth understanding of the material. Cramming the night before for her exams is NOT recommended.

Very thorough even though the course required the explanation of a vast amount of material. The exams were very fair if you kept up with the material rather than cramming. The course was interesting and very thorough- one of my favorite biology classes here.

Dr. Schroer is a dedicated teacher who does a fine job in bringing difficult material to a level students can understand. The exams in the course are really challending, but they are thought provoking help you gain new insights by going through the thought process. My classmates (probably the ones who are lazy and don't like to study) like to criticize her because she has the tough job of teaching a hard pre-med course in which everyone definitely does not deserve an A. This course is really hard work, but if you are willing to put in the work you will be rewarded.

She, by far, is the worst lecturer I have come across (except for Zucker, but he just can never be beat in his extreme lack of talent). She's so boring, and her thoughts are scattered. She gives out these like 10 page handouts before each lecture - completely unhelpful. Oh, and the "cumulative" final exam - just call that exam 4. Of course, cell bio is utterly dry and boring to begin with, but Schroer sure did her part to make it even more sufferable.

Cell bio is a demanding course, no doubt, and I think Dr. Schroer does a fairly good job of teaching the material at a good pace. She writes everything on the board with good organization so you shouldn't have any trouble understanding the information presented. She is accessible during office hours, and I did not detect any condescending behavior from her. Granted, you will still need to review, read up the textbook and put in the work to get an A.. not like a math class where u ace it just by going to class.

First and foremost, don't take this class unless you absolutely have to. This professor seemed too proud to talk to students without being condescending and discouraging. She failed to explain the grading system adequately, so no one really knew his/her grade until the end of the semester, and the grading distribution was not particularly fair either. Exams were designed imprecisely and ambiguously, and partial credit given only grudgingly. Dr. Schroer simply did not seem to care about her students learning the material. Her lectures were taken at breakneck speed and that which she wrote on the board was quite disorganized although legible. This class, in summary, was a nightmare and I'm so glad it's over!
