The first day, this professor actually wrote on the board. After that, he never used the board again, but always transparencies. He simply came to class and read off the transparencies extremely fast, not bothering to explain much of his seemingly convoluted thought process for the whole semester. Giving the excuse of "the notes are on the Web, so don't feel you have to get them all now", Dr. Swartz shirked his duty of clear lecturing and angrily answered any student who dared question his unfair policies. Rather than assigning homework, he instead gave tricky weekly quizzes, which forced students to attend some of the rather boring lectures which were scheduled at a dismal morning hour. His exams were quite hard and not designed well--subsequent parts always depended on previous ones, so missing the first part often messed the rest up. Averages on the exams never broke 45% but were always very low, yet students who scored double the averages were not even granted A's. No calculators were allowed after only ONE student complained (they were originally allowed) and the formula sheets provided for exams always omitted the very formulas needed to solve problems! A nightmarish class, it should be avoided if at all possible.
